To realize virtual domains You have to do following steps:

1. Edit the config file:

xxx.xxx.xxx.* are the first 24 bits of Your own class C network, for
example: 12.34.56.* for 12.34.56.0/24. smtp_remote_allow is for newer
smails with UBE protection.

auth_domains=my.domain.some.where:virtual.domain.some.where
hostnames=mail.my.domain.some.where
more_hostnames=virtual.domain.some.where
visible_name=mail.my.domain.some.where
smtp_remote_allow=xxx.xxx.xxx.*:127.0.0.1

2. Edit the directors file and add a new director for Your virtual domain:

virtual-aliases:
        driver=aliasfile,               # general-purpose aliasing director
        -nobody, # all addresses are associated
                                        # with nobody by default, so setting
                                        # this is not useful.
        sender_okay,                    # don't remove sender from expansions
        domains=virtual.domain.some.where # domain required to match
        owner=postmaster; # problems go to an owner address

        file=aliases.virtual, # where to find special aliases
        modemask=002, # should not be globally writable
        optional, # ignore if file does not exist
        proto=lsearch,                  # unsorted ASCII file

3. Create an alias file for Your virtual domain, it has to be in the same
   directory Your regular alias file lives in:

--- 8< ---
# System aliases, as in RfC 2142:
#
# Missing domain names are interpreted as mail.my.domain.some.where!

postmaster:     postmaster              # SMTP  - RfC 821, 822
hostmaster:     hostmaster              # DNS   - RfC 1033, 1034, 1035
usenet:         usenet                  # NNTP  - RfC 977
news: usenet@virtual.domain.some.where # Synonym for usenet
webmaster:      webmaster               # HTTP  - RfC 2068
www: webmaster@virtual.domain.some.where # Synonym für webmaster
uucp:           uucp                    # UUCP  - RfC 976
ftp:            ftp                     # FTP   - RfC 959

abuse:          abuse                   # net abuse
noc:            noc
security:       security

# Other system aliases:

sysop: postmaster@virtual.domain.some.where # Synonym for postmaster
newsmaster: usenet@virtual.domain.some.where # Synonym für usenet

# Aliases for companies, see RfC 2142:

info:           person1                 # Produktinformationen
marketing:      person2                 # Marketing
sales:          person3                 # Verkauf
support:        person4                 # Support

# Other aliases:

...
--- 8< ---

4. Edit the DNS files for virtual.domain.some.where, you have to be a MX
   for Your new domain:

...
virtual.domain.some.where	IN MX 10	mail.my.domain.some.where.
...

That's all folks.

Yours, Michi.
